Day 27, 28
Next week is the big rendezvous of loopers.. It's been sold out for sometime. We got our name on the waiting list a couple of months ago... We were told we were 12th on the list . When we tried to get into Joe Wheeler, we called in hopes the number was closer to the possibility of getting in.. We were told we were now 18th... What??? How did we go backwards... Anyway.. Not looking good to join the festivities . We were able to get a slip for a few nights 8,9,10 and check out on the 11th.. With great hesitation we got a slip.. However, we were told if the looper comes in ( who's reservation was for the 13th to the 18th) we would have to move... Again.. What???? We reassured the dock master we would be leaving on the 11th..
When we came around and saw the marina on Thursday, there were at least 25 slips wide open... We were surprised for all the hesitation to get a slip this week.. We took a spot in front of the lodge next to the pool and restaurant.
The lodge and marina have been very quiet for these two days.
Great time for a dinghy ride and see the fall colors up close.
Very pretty.
Buster loves to ride in the dinghy.
We saw a turtle sunning itself on a log.
This sumac was amazing!
While enjoying the colors ..
And "playing photographer"
This boat came in.. So I took their picture.. Then discovered it was this great couple we met back in Chattanooga .. Rick and Monica on Moni Jean... It was wonderful to see them.. They too were rather surprised by the empty slips yet the challenge to get a slip for overnight.. They will be here for the festivities..
Tomorrow morning we will head down the river. Depending how busy the locks are, will determind how far down the river we get!!
About 7 boats came in this afternoon.. Still many empty slip.. But the weather window looks great for the next week .. Sunshine yet cooler temps.. Perfect if we desire to anchor out!
